Sweet Vengeance
Famed filmmaker Brian De Palma is finally getting back into directing. The Film Stage reports the famed “Blow Out” and “Dressed To Kill” director will shoot his next feature “Sweet Vengeance” in Portugal this Summer. The story is reportedly inspired by two true stories of murders. It will mark his first film since 2019’s “Domino”. [Source: The Film Stage]
Stan
Marking her first film since 2018’s “Destroyer,” filmmaker Karyn Kusama will helm “Stan” – a thriller which will shoot this June in Toronto. Daisy Edgar-Jones (:Twisters:) and Drew Starkey (“Queer”) will star in the film about a famous singer and a fan who believes there is a hidden message buried within her songs. Peaked
Emma Mackey (“Ella McKay”) is in final talks to star opposite Molly Gordon (“Theater Camp”) in the comedy “Peaked” at A24. Gordon will also direct and co-write the film with Allie Levitan. The story follows two girls, the kind who traumatized you in high school, as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion. [Source: Deadline]
Untitled Emily Henry Projects
Netflix has planning to adapt two of “People We Meet on Vacation” author Emily Henry’s novels into movies – namely the 2023 novel “Happy Place” and 2024’s “Funny Story”.
The former follows the story of couple who pretend to still be together for one last summer trip with their best friends at a Maine beach house while struggling with a broken engagement. The latter follows a children’s librarian who becomes rommates with the ex of the new partner of her ex. [Source: Variety]
