The defender was named on the bench for the game and was sent on for the final few minutes of the match by Hansi Flick as Barcelona beat their old rivals 3-2 in a dramatic game.
It was a great move by Flick as Araujo – who has returned after taking a mental health break – then went on to lift the trophy. The team then continued to celebrate on the pitch, with Araujo thrown in the air by his team-mates, who were clearly thrilled to have him back.
Barcelona midfielder Pedri then revealed that Araujo had given the team a speech before the game which went down extremely well.
”Ronald contributes a lot to us; the speech he gave us before the match moved us all,” he told Movistar.
Barcelona will now hope that Araujo can start playing regularly again as Hansi Flick’s side bid to add more trophies in the second half of the season.
