The Unrivaled season is now underway, and there are not many more exciting teams in the league than Breeze BC — boasting talent such as Paige Bueckers, Dominique Malonga, and Cameron Brink. The trio has established an offensive chemistry that has left fans in awe of what they are witnessing. Now, the Dallas Wings must sit up and take notice. They must follow this blueprint and draft a center who can have a similar effect on the offensive end of the court alongside Bueckers.
For a second consecutive year, the Wings landed the first overall pick in the WNBA draft. In 2025, the franchise made the obvious decision to select the generational talent Bueckers, and now they will look to manufacture an entire roster around her. UConn fanatics will be desperate to see their star guard, Azzi Fudd, reunited with her former teammate in Dallas; however, the front office cannot afford fumble an effective big to partner with the 24-year-old.
Dallas is in dreamland
It is not very often that a team has the opportunity to hand the keys to its franchise to a ready-made superstar like Paige Bueckers. The UConn graduate failed to disappoint during her rookie year, despite what the Wings’ regular-season record would suggest (10-34). Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals, while shooting 47.7% from the floor.
Nevertheless, there are not many teams that succeed when relying solely on one player to carry them to a championship — arguably, the Las Vegas Aces and A’ja Wilson are the exception to this rule. Dallas must build a team that enhances Bueckers’ elite scoring and playmaking attributes. Breeze has proven that partnering her with a certain build of player is the perfect formula.
Unfortunately for the Wings, Dominique Malonga and Cameron Brink are currently contracted to rival WNBA teams. Although with up-and-coming superstars in the mould of Awa Fam and Lauren Betts, Dallas can select a center with the physical attributes to propel Bueckers’ performances into another stratosphere.
Not only can Bueckers score at will from range and inside, with the perfect dance partner, she can also execute the perfect pick-and-roll. As has been evident in Unrivaled, given the opportunity, this play will either provide the exciting guard with enough separation to drain a shot or it will allow her teammate to get to a more dangerous position in the paint.
If the Dallas Wings did not know the chaos Paige Bueckers can ensue with a capable big at her disposal, then Breeze has handed the perfect blueprint to them on a plate. Due to the elite talent in the center position available in 2026, the franchise has an obligation to create a combination that will send shockwaves throughout the WNBA.
