Murray State has closed several buildings after receiving an email indicating a bomb threat at a campus library earlier this morning.
As of 3:25 p.m., the ATF, Murray State University Police Department, along with other local agencies, “have searched the buildings and determined that there is no credible threat,” with the Office of Homeland Security advising the threat was a hoax. For individuals who left possessions inside Waterfield Library, the University said there will be a Murray State police officer inside the building until 4:30 p.m.
The University sent a campus-wide email, saying the threat is likely a hoax, but will be closing the following buildings out of an abundance of caution, and classes within are cancelled for the rest of the day at 12:56 p.m.

The University has advised recipients of this email, to avoid these areas as the Murray Police Department is investigating the matter.
The Louisville Cardinal reported the University of Louisville have evacuated Ekstrom and Kornhauser Libraries at around 2 p.m. due to a safety concern, with library faculty saying police are investigating a bomb threat. The University continued operations after officials swept through facilities and gave an all clear, WAVE reported.
The source also reported John Karman, UoL spokesperson, said a number of universities nationwide received similar threats involving university libraries.
This is a developing story.
