ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown native and Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried visited “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday to talk about her hometown.

During the show’s “Community Calendar” segment, several Lehigh Valley businesses and organizations received shoutouts, including Colonial Pizza and the State Theatre in Easton, and Stony Run Winery in Breinigsville.

Seyfried also highlighted Mary Ann Donut Kitchen in Allentown for its fastnachts. She described the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch treats as being made with lard, sugar, fat, butter, and sometimes potatoes.

While Fastnacht Day is Feb. 17, the bakery announced on Facebook that it will begin selling them early on Feb. 3. The post included a clip of the national television shoutout.

“It’s not every day that we are mentioned on national television,” the bakery said in the post.

Seyfried, who attended William Allen High School, appeared on the show to promote her new film, “The Testament of Ann Lee”.

WFMZ-TV spoke with Seyfried in 2021 about her experience growing up in the Lehigh Valley.
