Barcelona youngster Dro Fernandez has been hit by injury ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey tie with Racing and looks set to miss the game.

The Copa del Rey looked to be a great opportunity for Fernandez to enjoy more first-team minutes this season but he missed training ahead of the match and is expected to sit this one out.

According to Diario Sport, the teenager is suffering some discomfort and Barcelona will not take any risks with him.

Dro had returned from Spain Under-18 duty due to the discomfort but it had seemed likely he would recover in time for the Copa del Rey game.

Yet that now seems off the table in what will be a blow for Fernandez.

The midfielder, who turned 18 on Monday, has made five appearances in all competitions so far this season but hasn’t featured since the win over Atletico Madrid in December.
