The city of Madras announced Thursday that City Administrator Will Ibershof has resigned from his position.

The resignation is effective immediately.

Ibershof submitted his letter of resignation Jan. 14, prompting city leaders to schedule a special meeting at city hall Friday, Jan. 16 to name an interim administrator.

In a statement, city officials have emphasized that operations and services will continue without disruption during the leadership transition.

The special session will take place at 9 a.m., Jan. 16.

Ibershof has served as the city’s top staffer since late 2023, responsible for overseeing day-to-day city operations, coordinating city finances and budgeting, and guiding long-term strategic goals under the direction of the City Council.

His tenure included significant changes to the city’s police department, including the dismissal of former chief of police Tim Plummer in July.

City staffers and councilors have declined comment ahead of the special session.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
