Some of the sexier names making the rounds in the wider NBA media sphere have been tied to the Celtics in recent weeks, with players like Los Angeles Clippers big man Ivica Zubac and Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. the biggest names connected with Boston so far.

But those players make a lot, would cost a lot to trade for, or both, making moves for either potentially fraught paths in a cap environment that is unkind to such mistakes. Other targets like Dallas Mavericks big Daniel Gafford or Brooklyn Nets center DayRon Sharpe might be a wiser path, if the Celtics make any deadline moves at all.
