Sometimes your siblings can be fun and playful, and other times they can make you mad like no one else. No matter what, we tend to love our brothers and sisters through it all. I’m sure a baby elephant named Rosie would agree, even as her older siblings annoy her during nap time.

Rosie lives at Elephant Havens, the only elephant orphanage in Botswana, Africa. The @elephanthavensfoundation TikTok recently shared a video of this little calf trying to catch some Zzzs, but as the video post caption relays, the older elephants acted like “classic siblings.”

The caption goes on to say, “Rosie tries to take a nap while her older siblings want to play!” Check out how these active elephants try to get Rosie’s attention. Their behavior is both funny and relatable for anyone who has brothers or sisters.

Kids will be kids! As the clip shows, Rosie was lying down. She tried to get some sleep, but a few of her older siblings decided it was playtime. They started crowding around her to try to wake her up, and they all ended up kicking and blowing dirt around, which mostly landed on Rosie.

For those who have siblings, you can understand how this baby sister felt. One commenter went ahead and guessed her point of view and wrote, “Rosie: ‘Stop blowing that dirt around; I’m trying to nap!’”

Compared to some animals, baby elephants rest for fairly short periods. In the post caption, @elephanthavensfoundation explains, “Baby elephants like Rosie only sleep about 4-6 hours a day. In the wild, they might nap longer on the ground because the protective herd is watching over them.”

It seems the older elephants of the herd didn’t want to waste any time sleeping. And if her siblings are on different sleep schedules, sleep might be the last thing they’re ready to do.

More About Rosie the Elephant’s Backstory

Rosie was an orphan who was rescued and came to live at Elephant Havens a few months ago. And what a difference the time makes. She had to learn how to be a part of a herd again. By the way the older elephants want to spend time with her, she’s already loved by them. Who wouldn’t want to play around with this sweet baby elephant?!
