Compex has been a Qualcomm Authorized Design Centre (ADC) since 2014, helping customers design specialized, high-specification Wi-Fi products for demanding and mission-critical applications. For Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be), Compex has introduced a family of standard modules for system designers who are looking for flexible module options that support different band combinations, form factors, and deployment scenarios.

The Compex Wi-Fi 7 Dual-Band Dual-Concurrent Module family is designed to address these requirements by offering a versatile set of dual-band configurations across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz, delivering high performance and adaptability for a wide range of applications.

Qualcomm-Powered Dual-Band Dual-Concurrent Modules

Powered by Qualcomm’s QCN6224, QCN6274, and QCN9274 ‘Waikiki’ radio chipsets, the Compex Wi-Fi 7 Dual-Band Dual-Concurrent Module family features dual-band combinations across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands. These modules support advanced Wi-Fi 7 functions such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO), OFDMA, and 4096-QAM. These 2×2 MU-MIMO modules are available in standard MiniPCIe, M.2 E-Key, and B+M Key variants, allowing designers to select the most appropriate form factor depending on space constraints, interface requirements, and host platform compatibility.

MLO, a core feature of Wi-Fi 7, enables Wi-Fi connections between clients and Access Point (AP) over multiple frequency bands simultaneously. MLO aggregates throughput across multiple radios and frequency bands, intelligently routing data for lower latency and higher reliability. When the different bands are on different modules, Qualcomm recommends routing high-speed traces through the host board for inter-module MLO communication. Compex Wi-Fi 7 Dual-Band Dual-Concurrent modules provide an alternative method through on-module connectors, allowing easy MLO implementation on many third-party host boards. This patent-pending MLO interconnection and signal conditioning design allows full MLO speed with minimal EMI emission.

The Compex modules are compatible with Qualcomm platforms and also support third-party platforms, including Intel x86 and ARM-based processors such as NXP and Marvell. This makes them suitable for a broad range of applications, including enterprise networking equipment, industrial systems, transportation, cybersecurity appliances, embedded platforms, and edge AI applications.

Optimized Coexistence with Advanced RF Design

The module family incorporates diplexers and advanced RF filters to optimize the device’s performance and deliver exceptional coexistence. The diplexer combines the two concurrent signals into a single dual-band antenna, reducing the need for multiple antennas and simplifying system design.

Integrated RF filters are used to manage coexistence between Wi-Fi bands and other signal sources. These include the filter that eliminates interference between the 2.4GHz and LTE B7 band and coexistence filters that minimize the interference between 5GHz High, 5GHz Low, and 6GHz radios. This design approach reduces interference when multiple radios are operating in close proximity, ensuring seamless and interference-free connectivity in densely integrated systems.

This kind of coexistence consideration is especially relevant for platforms that integrate Wi-Fi together with LTE or 5G modems, where minimizing cross-band interference is critical for consistent performance.
