PEORIA, Ill. (WREX) — An Illinois healthcare provider has announced a change in leadership.

OSF Healthcare has appointed Sister M. Mikela Meidl as the new president of the health system.

Sister M. Mikela was said to bring almost four decades of leadership experience to her new role. She served as a nursing director and administrator of a 114-bed nursing facility in St. Louis, Missouri, and was president and CEO of St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, Illinois, before it joined OSF.

Sister M. Mikela also has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in business administration in healthcare management.

When St. Anthony’s joined OSF in 2014, so did Sister M. Mikela. Since then, she has served on the OSF HealthCare System Board. She is the current executive vice president and chief ministry officer.

Outgoing president Michelle Conger said she was confident in Sister M. Mikela’s ability to lead OSF.

“Having worked with Sister M. Mikela for over 10 years, I am confident of her leadership and her ability to help guide OSF HealthCare as we continue our Mission to serve with the greatest care and love,” said Conger.

Conger will be named OSF’s CEO when Bob Sehring retires in April.
