Australian rapper Iggy Azalea did not take her breakup with former NBA player Nick Young lightly. She burned his expensive clothing as payback for the cheating that he had done.
The two broke up in June 2016 after Azalea confirmed her ex-fiancé’s infidelity. It ended their two-and-a-half-year relationship that started with a shoutout that Young sent to the recording star on Twitter, now X.
Young’s cheating was brought to the fore after a video, where he admitted to cheating on Azalea shot by his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell, was leaked to the public. While she brushed it off initially, her fears were further confirmed a few months later when she found security footage of her boyfriend bringing other women into their home while she was away.
It did not take long before the artist behind the hit song “Fancy” ended her relationship with Swaggy P. She took to Instagram to make the announcement, citing broken trust as a big reason and that she was moving out of the house she shared with the player.
The bridge was burned between Azalea and Young
Azalea admitted that what Young did hurt her a lot, and she wanted to get back at him in a way that he would feel the most. She came up with burning and destroying the clothes he so cared about.
She looked back at that moment in her appearance on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens” show in 2018, sharing what went down when she burned Young’s clothes.
“I burned it all, darling. I burned a lot and I threw stuff in the pool, too. I started off with water and it just seemed like that didn’t work. Every designer you could think of, I burned,”Azalea recalled.
While she was at it, she made sure that she informed Young of what was happening to rub it hard on him.
“‘I’m burning your things. And so I don’t know where you’re at, probably with some girl, so I hope you get home quickly because I’m moving on. We’re progressing on the spectrum of cheap to expensive,'” Azalea remembered writing in her message.
Iggy’s life after Young
Azalea has since moved on from her relationship with Young, dating rapper Playboi Carti from 2018 to 2020 and sharing a son, Onyx, with him. She was also seen dating NBA player Malik Monk in 2022.
She is currently being linked to streamer N3on but Azalea denied being in a romantic relationship with him, focusing on her business ventures and her son.
Azalea even joked about how her connection with N3on actually destroyed her dating life.
“Everyone sends me DMs, like ‘Why do you love N3on?’ I’m like, ‘He’s my literal friend, you freak.’ You (N3on) actually messed up my dating a bit. I don’t actually think you are, cuz like anyone with a brain obviously can see we’re just friends,” she said in an Instagram reel.
As for Young, he is with his high school sweetheart and true love, Keonna Green, with whom he has three children, building a stable family life. It is a far cry from his days of womanizing that marked the end of his relationship with Azalea.
