A musician has gained something like notoriety for canceling and postponing shows.

Something that he just did again.

Stereogum reports how Steven Patrick Morrissey — better known simply as “Morrissey,” the former frontman for British group The Smiths — has cancelled his performance at the Duke Energy Center for The Arts’ Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida, tonight.

This is his fifth cancellation of 2026 thus far, NME adds.

According to Suggest, the 66-year-old canceled multiple shows within about a weeks’ time due to an unconfirmed ailment.

“Due to artist illnesses, the Morrissey show on January 17, 2026, at 8 PM has been canceled,” wrote one venue via Instagram post. “All ticket purchases will be refunded automatically at the point of purchase.

“Please allow 7-10 business days for refunds to take place.”

“I haven’t even been a fan for that long and I’m already 0 for 2,” wrote a Reddit user.

“First time he cancelled I had the option to hold my tickets for [a] rescheduled show or take a refund,” commented another. “I had great seats so I held. Didn’t give me the option this time — straight to refund.”

“Is Morrissey genuinely ok?” asked a concerned commenter. “Is he very sick?

“I know it’s a meme at this point that he cancels shows but like if he’s this ill physically or mentally why commit to a tour?”

It appears that other scheduled Morrissey performances are — for now — still on the docket as of the publishing of this report.
