Calfee is
pleased to announce that Real Estate attorney Kevin Patrick Murphy has joined the
firm’s Cleveland, Ohio, office as Of Counsel. Kevin brings
more than 20 years of experience representing public and private
companies on major real estate transactions, including joint
ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, construction, development,
financing, leasing, zoning and entitlements.

Kevin also advises clients in connection with the development of
major real estate developments requiring public and private sector
collaboration, including the creation of tax increment financing
districts, community redevelopment areas and special improvement

private sectors derived from years of professional experience in
government, real estate and finance, including time spent at Calfee
as an associate attorney early in his career.

“I am eager to rejoin the firm where I started practicing
law,” Kevin stated. “Working with colleagues at Calfee,
I will focus my practice in the areas in which I have a unique
niche in serving clients: real estate development and specialized
entrepreneurial opportunities. Calfee’s highly collaborative
culture and long history of opening the door to attorneys with
specific legal and market expertise provide an opportunity to grow
my practice and deliver a high level of legal counsel to clients in
Northeast Ohio and beyond.”

Kevin earned his J.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve
University School of Law and Trinity College School of Law and his
B.A. from Miami University.

“Kevin Murphy brings an exceptional track record of helping
clients find unique growth opportunities anchored by real estate as
well as finding value for clients in emerging industry and
regulatory environments,” said Karla M. Rogers, Partner and Chair of
Calfee’s Real Estate Law practice group. “Kevin’s
leadership experience, business connections, and legal expertise
position him to successfully navigate complex transactions and
secure positive results for the firm’s clients.”

The firm’s Real Estate Law attorneys represent business
entities, developers, investors, joint ventures, syndicators,
institutional lenders, and individuals in connection with matters
related to acquisition, disposition, construction, development,
leasing, financing, and zoning of real property assets. In addition
to conventional real property transactions, Calfee’s practice
encompasses the formation of investment entities, joint ventures
and tax-advantaged investment arrangements, tax-deferred exchanges,
and the representation of clients in complex, multi-site, and
multi-state transactions. Many of the firm’s project
engagements are structured as private/public partnerships. Calfee
is recognized as a leading law firm in Real Estate Law by Chambers
USA (Band 2, Ohio), an internationally respected research firm that
ranks the world’s best lawyers and law firms.

“My colleagues and I are excited to have Kevin Murphy
return to Calfee. Our firm continues to grow strategically by
attracting top-tier legal talent, and Kevin’s addition
reflects our ongoing investment in talented attorneys with legal
and industry expertise and strong roots in the business communities
in which our firm serves clients,” said Thomas M. Welsh, Managing Partner at
