WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – It’ll cost more to tee up at the Thompson Park Golf Course come spring.
In a 3-2 vote Tuesday night, Watertown City Council approved the fee changes for the 2026 season.
Season passes have increased by $25 to $50 depending on the pass.
For example, a city resident over the age of 22 will pay $825 for a season pass, up from $800 last season.
Non-city residents over 22 will go from $875 to $900.
Greens fees will go up $2 to $3.
Council Members Ben Shoen and Doug Osborne voted against increasing the fees, with Osborne arguing it “sends a bad message.”
“I think it just comes across as more exclusive than a municipal course, where it’s open to the general public. I’d like to see volume of people come in and play. I just think this will end up hindering that at the end of the day,” he said.
The golf course lost around $120,000 this past season, which was not as much as the previous two years.
