Alex finally got his gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 today, and he’s looking quite a bit different than he has in the past.
Capcom has now revealed a bunch of new gameplay details for Alex’s various moves and mechanics in Street Fighter 6 that’ll set him apart from the rest of the roster.
Starting things off, Flash Axe is a brand new strike special performed with quarter-circle forward and light punch for a safe combo ender or medium punch that can transition into his new Prowler Stance on hit too.
Interestingly, Alex’s Flash Chop has been relegated to just the heavy punch input, but it spins the opponent around on hit to leave them open for a follow-up like a Power Bomb.
Flash Chop is plus on block as well, and the Overdrive version can go into the Prowler Stance too.
Aerial Knee Smash is back as well with the light and medium versions being strong anti-airs though they won’t hit standing opponents.
The heavy version isn’t great apparently as an anti-air, but it can be combo’d into and hit standing enemies while the OD version has a fast startup and leads to a hard knockdown.
Alex’s signature Power Bomb has some interesting capabilities this time around since although they all do the same damage, the different strengths have differing speed and range.
His light grab has the most range but is the slowest while the heavy version is the opposite.
On top of that, Alex will perform a Power Drop after landing a Power Bomb when the opponent’s back is turned while his Hyper Bomb can be used if the OD version grabs from behind for more damage and giving him the option of which side to land on.
Prowler Stance is Alex’s big new special that moves him forward and prevents him from blocking, but it opens the door to a whopping 11 different follow-up options.
Hitting heavy punch from his Prowler Stance gives the brawler back his Heavy Lariat, which has armor if held down and is plus on block.
Light kick makes Alex perform a Tactical Hop where he can follow with Air Stampede on medium kick or any of his aerial attacks.
Capcom also notes that the new character will perform additional more powerful moves when hitting certain Prowler Stance attacks as a Punish Counter.
Sweep Combination goes into Flying Suplex, Hyper Takedown goes into Death Valley Bomb and Dangerous Armbar transitions into Spiral DDT respectively.
Raging Spear is Alex’s level 1 Super Art where he performs a forward tackle that has invincibility on startup to strikes and throws.
His regular level 2 Super Art is Sledgecross Hammer that can wall splat opponents in the air and has some projectile invincibility.
Interestingly, Alex has a second level 2 Super, Omega Wing Buster, that can be used after OD Power Drop based on wrestling star Kenny Omega.
Finally, The Final Prison is Alex’s level 3 Super, which has multiple different animations depending on if it uses the Critical Art, KO’s the opponent or both.
We’ll be learning more about how this new version of Alex will work leading up to his release date on March 17.
You can find the official descriptions of Alex’s moves below with this information also being available in Street Fighter’s latest blog post on Steam.

• Flash Axe: A rapid attack with light and medium options. The light version is a great combo ender whereas the medium can transition into Prowler Stance upon hit.
• Flash Chop: When this bodacious heavy strike hits on the ground, the opponent will be opened up to a follow-up grab like Power Bomb or Oblique Stomp for some wicked damage. The OD version allows Alex to transition to Prowler Stance on hit.
• Aerial Knee Smash: A fantastic anti-air technique as Alex jumps into the air and slams his opponent into the ground with his knee.
• Power Bomb: Alex’s signature move comes with light, medium, and heavy variations, which all deal the same damage while offering other unique benefits.
• Prowler Stance: Alex forfeits the ability to block while in this stance, but gains 11 different follow-up options to mix-up his opponent. For example, if you land Sweep Combination (Target Combo), Hyper Takedown (Throw), or Dangerous Armbar (Throw) on a Punish Counter, they’ll transition into Flying Suplex, Death Valley Bomb, and Spiral DDT respectively.
• Raging Spear: Alex’s Level 1 Super Art has him spring forward with a devastating tackle. This move is invincible on start-up to both strikes and throws and can also be used in combos.
• Sledgecross Hammer: Alex’s Level 2 Super Art crushes opponents with a devastating lariat that can wall splat if it hits an airborne opponent and has some invincibility from projectiles.
• Omega Wing Buster: Alex has another Level 2 Super Art following a successful OD Power Drop where Alex can transition into Omega Wing Buster. If this move looks familiar it might be because wrestling superstar Kenny Omega performed this move’s motion capture for Alex!
• The Final Prison: Alex’s Level 3 Super Art The Final Prison has four different animations! The wrestler chokes the opponent out with a series of phenomenal grappling moves. There’s the normal Level 3 version, the Level 3 version that results in a K.O., the normal CA version, and a CA version that ends in a K.O.
