SALEM, N.H. —

A person was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 93 late Wednesday night.

New Hampshire State Police said a state trooper was stopped by a passerby at 11:15 p.m. who reported that a pedestrian had been struck on I-93 South in Salem near the Exit 2 off-ramp.

Troopers found a man dead at the scene of the collision. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The name of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed while state police conducted their investigation.

The highway reopened just before 3 a.m.
