INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department is investigating after a house fire left nine people and five animals displaced on Indy’s near northwest side early Thursday.
Around 2:30 a.m. Jan. 22, IFD crews responded to a report of a fire in the 2000 block of North Tibbs Avenue, near West 20th Street.
IFD Battalion Chief Scott Olofson told 13News firefighters were met with a fire in the basement of the house.
While fighting the fire, parts of the first floor collapsed — forcing crews inside to evacuate and fight the blaze from the outside. As firefighters worked to find a different route back into the home, the fire spread up through the first and second floor.
Our 13News crew on the scene could see flames coming through the roof and windows of the house.

Luckily, no residents, animals or firefighters were injured in the fire.
According to Olofson, the cause of the fire is still undetermined as officials continue to investigate.
