Residents are encouraged to stay inside on Saturday and Sunday. If possible, you should also stay off the roads to allow emergency and utility services to work. 8:28 p.m. – In Randolph County, the Randolph Electric Membership Corporation says it is monitoring the storm closely and is ready to respond to any outages that may occur. Officials encouraged REMC members to prepare now for ice-related impacts that could create multiday outages. 7:30 p.m. – Mt. Airy and Surry County officials say they are ready for whatever this winter storm may bring. 6:15 p.m. – Greensboro emergency crews say they will have to cover about 2500 miles of road. Once the storm hits, they will shift into emergency operations, with crews running 12-hour shifts until the weather lets up.
