It’s July, and the Flyers’ 2025-26 season starts in less than 45 days.

The Flyers will look slightly different this season than last. While they may not be much different than last season, they might just have the talent to surprise some people.

We already know what the Flyers have with Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny, but do they have more? What will the Flyers look like in 2025-26? Well, here are three bold predictions for the Flyers this coming season.

Trevor Zegras Returns to Form, Scores 25+Plus Goals

Trevor Zegras has gotten far from the exciting early days of his career. While he is still only 24 years old, injury-riddled seasons have held him back.

Now, Zegras is expected to return to center, where he has thrived. He is also expected to play alongside Matvei Michkov and, possibly, Travis Konecny too.

My first bold prediction is that in his new top-six role with the Flyers, Trevor Zegras will score 25+ goals in year one with the Flyers.

Moving back to center will make Zegras more comfortable. It will keep him away from the boards. I believe that sharing the ice with Michkov will take some of the pressure off Zegras as well.

The talent has not left Zegras; now he’s in an environment to let it loose.

Owen Tippett Makes Big Strides, Finally Hits the 30-Goal Mark

The Flyers had a lot of faith in Owen Tippett when they gave him an eight-year deal worth $6.2M annually.

He has been good for the Flyers, not great. My second bold prediction is that changes this year.

The 30-goal mark seems to be what the Flyers believe Tippett can reach, and I think he’ll do it this year.

If the Flyers want to make it to the postseason, Tippett needs to hit that potential. He’s come close to 30 goals in the past, but took a step backward last season.

This year, I see Tippett taking a huge step forward. I see Tippett playing alongside Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier.

Playing with those two will allow Tippett to use his speed and skill to be the offensive playmaker he needs to be. If he can dial in his shot, 30 could be a reasonable expectation for Tippett.

This leads into my third and final prediction.

The Flyers Make the Playoffs

While just sneaking into the playoffs would not be a bold prediction for most teams, it is for the Flyers.

Yet, I think it will happen.

My prior two predictions led to this. I think the addition of Zegras will bring a top-six center that the Flyers have been desperately missing. Tippett making the next step will give the Flyers two scoring lines.

I don’t see Noah Cates regressing, and Christian Dvorak is another Cates-esque player who can be a great two-way addition to the bottom six. The Flyers forwards could get them into the postseason.

The defensive group is good. Getting Rasmus Ristolainen back, and hopefully, finally 100% healthy, will be a significant boost to the defensive unit.

Basically, the Flyers’ playoff hopes rest in the hands of the goaltender tandem.

If Dan Vladar can be a better partner for Sam Ersson than the FedotovKolosov duo, it should lead the Flyers back into the postseason.
