Carson Valley Health is located at Highway 395 and Virginia Ranch Road in Gardnerville.
No immediate staff or service changes are in the works for Carson Valley Health after Barton Health announced Thursday it was taking sole control of the Gardnerville hospital.
Renown Health, which has had a shared interest in the hospital for the entire 21st Century, and Barton agreed to the split on Wednesday according to a statement.
“Barton has been involved with Carson Valley Health since its founding in 1993,” said Barton President and CEO Dr. Clint Purvance. “We understand its history and the significant role it plays in healthcare delivery. This next step reflects a shared desire to move ahead in a way that continues to ensure high-quality, accessible health care is available to all patients in the region.”
Barton Health and Carson Valley Health will remain separate entities, according to the statement
“We look forward to more closely aligning with the Barton Health family,” said Carson Valley Health CEO Jeff Prater. “This decision builds on years of collaboration and represents a natural next step in advancing Carson Valley Health’s legacy of community care.”
Both organizations will work together to explore opportunities and share best practices with the goal of meeting the community’s healthcare needs in the months ahead, according to the hospital.
