Thanks to Paul for sending from Forest Hills:
“A few months back this juvenile Coopers hawk swooped down toward the very busy bird feeder behind our house. He misjudged his escape angle and slammed into our house. Ouch! He was pretty stunned, and recovered slowly in stages. Here he is about 15 minutes later. When he was first on the ground after knocking himself out, I had called animal control who sent an officer to pick him up. As soon as this little guy saw the officer, a minute or so after this photo, he quickly left the scene, flying pretty well and steady. He hasn’t been back.”
If you spot a hawk, any interesting wildlife or celebrity skateboarder Tony Hawk, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted them to [email protected]. Thanks! Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
