Metal Allegiance hit the stage at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, CA yesterday, January 22nd for their annual concert together. The supergroup’s core collective includes Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Testament, etc. guitarist Alex Skolnick, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and Mark Menghi.

As is tradition, a small army of guests were assembled onstage to accompany them for a set that consisted of both original tracks and numerous covers. Among those advertised in advance to be taking part were:

Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist William DuVall joined in for the live debut of his recent collaboration with Metal Allegiance, “Black Horizon“. He also fronted a cover of the Black Sabbath classic “Fairies Wear Boots“.

Other highlights included Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders fronting Megadeth‘s “Hangar 18” and Metallica‘s “Whiplash“, ex-Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz took Soundgarden‘s “The Day I Tried To Live“, a song she previously tackled with Menghi and more. Testament vocalist Chuck Billy also fronted a cover of Sepultura‘s “Roots Bloody Roots“, among others. You can watch fan-filmed footage below.
