Following Mike Tomlin’s departure, the Pittsburgh Steelers have hired their next head coach for the foreseeable future — former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news on Saturday that the Steelers will be “working toward a deal to hire Mike McCarthy as their head coach,” potentially setting up an Aaron Rodgers reunion in 2026.

With 18 years of experience as the head coach of the Packers (2006–2018) and Cowboys (2020–2024), McCarthy recorded an impressive 174–112 record, including a Super Bowl victory over the Steelers.

While some fans have clamored for a young candidate like Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, the offensive-minded McCarthy will play a huge role in reshaping Pittsburgh’s identity for hopefully years to come.
