The Town of Burnsville is experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in its distribution system due to a water line break.

According to a system pressure advisory sent out by Yancey County, the line break is at 410 West Main Street.

The advisory says periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.

The Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored, consumers boil all water for one minute to kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

The town says the advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
