An actor best known for his role in an Oscar-nominated movie has been hospitalized after a fall, according to multiple reports.

“The Blind Side” star Quinton Aaron, 41, collapsed while walking up the stairs at his apartment in Atlanta last week, according to TMZ. A GoFundMe page said he was on “life support due to a severe blood infection,” though his manager Katrina Fristoe said he is now stable and communicating with family.

Additional details about Aaron’s health were not disclosed.

“The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of support from fans and the media but respectfully requests privacy during this time,” Fristoe said in a statement.

Aaron is best known for playing Michael Oher in the 2009 movie about a woman whose family takes in a homeless boy that later finds success in football and becomes an NFL star. The film was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards and Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for her performance as Leigh Anne Tuohy.

Aaron’s credits include more than 60 other movies and TV shows, including “Law & Order,” “One Tree Hill,” “Mothers and Daughters,” “Halfway,” and Nicolas Cage’s “Left Behind.” The New York Post reports he recently lost 200 pounds after several health issues, including a hospitalization in March when he developed a fever and coughed up blood due to complications from the flu and pneumonia.

“This has been sudden, frightening, and overwhelming for his loved ones. As he fights for his life, his family is facing an immense emotional and financial burden — medical expenses, living costs, and the uncertainty of how long this road to recovery may be,” the GoFund Me page said. “Quinton has spent his life inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still matter in this world. Now, as he fights one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him with that same love.”
