A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday and an extreme cold warning remains in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until noon on Tuesday with very cold wind chills as low as 9 below expected. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Use caution while traveling outside.
Sheriff Patrick Ray reports today that it was a quiet Sunday night in DeKalb County except for one reported personal injury accident. Roads remains treacherous and motorists should stay at home unless travel is necessary. Patches of snow on some roads provide for some traction but travel is not advised .
During this winter blast, Sheriff Ray said all agencies have worked to continue serving and protecting citizens including the Tennessee Department of Transportation and DeKalb County Highway Department with their road crews, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Department, city police, DeKalb EMS and Rescue Squad, Emergency Management Agency, and others

The DCHS/Central Magnet basketball games set for Tuesday, January 27 have been postponed until a later date.
The courthouse offices will be closed Monday, January 26 due to inclement weather.
County offices at the county complex including the Register of Deeds, County Clerk, Assessor of Property, Trustee, and Election Commission will be closed Monday, January 26
DeKalb County Schools to be closed Monday and Tuesday, January 26 & 27 due to inclement weather and cold temperatures
Criminal Court Judge Shawn Fry has canceled court for January 27, 2026. All cases set have been moved to February 17, 2026.
Crossroads Medical Group Clinics will be closed Monday, January 26. During this time phone lines will be unavailable. All patients should utilize the patient portal for any medication refill requests or questions. Additionally clinic managers will reach out directly to reschedule any appointments. There is no need for patients to call the office.
The Smithville City Hall will be closed Monday, January 26
The DeKalb County Libraries will be closed Monday, January 26
The DeKalb Utility District Office will be closed Monday, January 26 for the safety of employees. In case of an emergency, customers can still dial 615-597-6490.
