Hibernian have rejected a striker bid this afternoon for Kieron Bowie, a player long linked with Celtic both during the summer and again in the January window, as the Hoops continue their search for attacking reinforcements.

Reports from Record Sport indicate that Hellas Verona lodged an offer worth around €5 million, plus €1 million in add‑ons, on Tuesday, but the bid was turned down by Easter Road chiefs. It’s believed that Verona may return with an improved proposal in the coming days.

Celtic have already confirmed the arrival of Tomas Cvancara on a loan‑to‑buy deal, with an option in the region of £7 million to make it permanent. While that signing adds much‑needed firepower, it’s widely understood that Martin O’Neill still wants to bring in another forward before the window closes.

Bowie has been on many fans’ radar given his potential and his performances for Hibs, but with Verona’s bid dismissed, it remains to be seen whether Celtic will make a formal approach before the deadline.

At this stage, Celtic’s pursuit of a second striker beyond Cvancara is still very much active, and Bowie remains one of the names in the conversation. If Hibs do end up demanding a higher fee, it could either price some suitors out or force negotiations into the final days of the window.
