Richland Sheriff Leon Lott and Forest Acres chief Don Robinson are hoping the public can help.
FOREST ACRES, S.C. — In a video posted to the City of Forest Acres page Chief Don Robinson and Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott talk about recent break-ins around Forest Acres and in Richland County.Â
Robinson says, “Most of them have happened on the north end of the city-Arcadia Road, Cornett, Norwood, Dare and areas right around that whole area. Â We are working together with the sheriff to eliminate this problem.”
A bike has been stolen along with two guns.Â
He says they received a tip about an abandoned property in the woods and as police were walking the woods but found no evidence. Â “Hopefully we will get a resolution to this quickly.”
Lott went on to say that in the last couple of days a rash of car break-ins have occurred, the sheriff stressed that this was someone breaking into cars, not just looking for unlocked cars.Â
Nine cars have been broke into in the last three days. Â Many nothing was taken, but a gun was taken from one of the cars broken into in Richland County and Forest Acres had a gun stolen from a car also.Â
“Don’t leave your gun in your vehicle. Â Your vehicle is not a holster, ” stressed Lott during press conference.Â
The sheriff believes that it was done by an unhoused  person.  He is wearing a camouflage jacket and unique sneakers, black and red Jordan high tops. He appears to have a silver/grey “Trek” bicycle. This was from surveillance video.  The sheriff says they are also running DNA tests.Â
The incidents appear to happen between 4am and 6am.Â
Chief Robinson is asking those in the area to check their security or Ring cameras for the suspect.Â
