The United States started the match on the front foot and maintained control of the tempo for the entire first half of play. Just over 10 minutes into the match, as the U.S. worked to find the final connection needed to score a goal, a chaotic play in the box saw Meza nearly get a shot off, but the chance was thwarted and play continued on.
Croix Bethune opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the match, giving the United States the goal they needed to relax into the evening. Dickey had little work to do in the half, as she did not face a single shot. Jameese Joseph and Emily Sams added two more goals for the U.S. before halftime, sending them into the locker room up 3-0.
After the break, defender Jordyn Bugg subbed onto the field, bringing the total number of Reign players on the pitch to three. The action got started early in the second half, as Emma Sears added another goal for the United States just 28 seconds in.
In the 63rd minute, Meza’s shift ended while Maddie Dahlien’s started. Dahlien, who made her USWNT debut in the match against Paraguay on Saturday, once again occupied the left side of the field.
