Candace Parker was married to former NBA player Shelden Williams for eight years before their divorce in 2016. She later married former basketball player Anna Petrakova, with whom she now has two children.

Recently, Parker made the rounds on the Internet after being caught staring at Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James during a game she was covering. The moment led to her getting featured on countless memes.

A viral moment

In a conversation with Indiana Fever ace Aliyah Boston, Parker cleared the air about the viral video and detailed what was going through her mind as she was looking at James.

“Did you see yourself? Did you — did you see that you went viral for — okay. Face card,” Boston said, seemingly teasing her podcast partner.

“It’s crazy the amount of memes. I know our producers are being really nice, but my family is not nice. So they sent me all these memes of like, you know, ‘She look like you’re ready to risk it all,'” Parker responded. “And then everybody was coming at me like I was trying to risk it all.”

Parker relayed that while her producers at Prime Video were nice enough to leave her well alone, her family never let her hear the end of it.

“My family sent me videos or memes of people being like, ‘She’s questioning her sexuality. She about to go back to the other team. She’s switching teams once again!’ Like, everybody was crying at these memes,” Parker revealed, sending Boston into a fit of laughter.

The truth behind it

Parker disclosed the details of that viral moment, saying that James approached them to talk to his former teammate and close friend, Dwyane Wade, who was also doing commentary on the game. She revealed how hard she tried to listen in on the conversation, even though she had headphones on.

“I did the Clippers-Lakers game, rivalry week. Amazing… So I’m listening to what he’s saying. So, I’m looking in his mouth, but I have headphones on,” she said. “People always say that I have a resting b—ch face. And so, in my mind, I’m like, ‘I know the camera is here, so I’m gonna try not to look because I’m going to try not to look like… I want to look like I want to be here.’”

“And so, I was just kind of like looking at what he was saying, but not trying to have a resting b—ch face,” Candace clarified. “So, ain’t nobody trying to risk it all. It’s cool.”

Now that the incident has been cleared up, perhaps everyone can cut Parker some slack — though even she has to admit it was pretty hilarious.
