Four people were shot in a mass shooting in Mount Airy on Thursday, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. NCSBI said two people have died. The Surry County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a reported shooting at a residential area on Samurai Lane, off Welcome Baptist Church Road, around 2 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, deputies said they found four people who had been shot. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, officials said.
