Oregon (KATU) — Zach Miller was driving home on Interstate 5 when he had an unusual experience. He hit an owl. The owl was stuck in his grill. Thankfully, the owl seemed OK.

Miller brought the owl into his car and wrapped it in a blanket. However, he said it kept climbing onto his lap. Miller said he ended up petting the owl the rest of the drive home.

Miller said he took the owl home and introduced it to his family. They ended up naming him “Henry.”

Miller told KATU that owls are his “spirit animal” and showed off some of the owl items he owned.

But this is not the first time Miller has had a close encounter with owls. It’s not even the second. Milled told KATU this was the third time an owl had flown in front of his truck. Sadly, the other two birds were killed, and Miller said he and his family held “burial ceremonies” for them.

Miller said he is thankful “Henry” seems to be healthy, despite their run-in. In fact, Miller said Henry flew onto an Oak Tree near his home.

Miller said he’s been checking outside to see if Henry will make a return. He feels that he and the bird are connected. Miller told KATU he would’ve taken Henry to the vet, but he said he could not find one open at the time of the accident.
