Seneca County officials have issued a mandatory water conservation order effective immediately for all residents serviced by the Seneca County Water District, including Fayette WD #5, Fayette WD #8, Romulus WD, Varick WD #1, and Varick WD #3.
The order comes in response to a water line break on the Five Points Correctional Facility property, which has led to the depletion of the water supply in the affected areas.
The Seneca County Health Department and the Water District warn that some customers may experience a complete loss of water pressure during this emergency. Authorities are working to maintain an adequate supply of water for both consumption and fire suppression.
Residents are urged to limit their water usage as much as possible. Suggested conservation measures include running dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads, fixing leaks in faucets and toilets, taking shorter showers, and avoiding leaving water running while brushing teeth or washing dishes.
The conservation order will remain in effect until further notice.
