FRANKENMUTH, MI – Through the frigid temperatures this week, snow carvers at Zehnder’s Snowfest still created mesmerizing sculptures that are now on display.
Thousands of people explored Frankenmuth on Saturday, Jan. 31, for the annual festival to view the sculptures and enjoy the variety of activities.
Between the High School Snow Sculpting Competition, the State of Michigan Snow Sculpting Competition and the World Class Snow Carving Competition, there were many awards given out.
There are a total of 18 high school sculptures, 15 state of Michigan sculptures and eight world class sculptures.
The High School Snow Sculpting Competition began at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, and wrapped up by 5 p.m. Friday.
The State of Michigan Snow Sculpting Competition began at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, and wrapped up by 10 a.m. Saturday.
The World Class Snow Carving Competition began Monday, Jan. 26, and was completed by 10 a.m. Saturday.

The third-place winner is “Whimsical” carved by Lydia Olinger, Morgan Metiva, Emily Jones, Kassidy Cavendish and coach RaeAnn Woodcock with Hemlock High School.

The second-place tie winner is “The Tortoise Tempo” carved by Clara Warnick, Siena Bosco, Claire Cable, Ashleyn Duclos and coach Erin Warnick with Frankenmuth High School.

The other second place tie winner is “Myth and Machine” carved by Lola Grant, Kai Maendel, Ella Goodley, Abby Augustine and coach Paris Conquet with Walled Lake Northern Team A.
