Last year, the musician—up for six awards thanks to her seventh studio album Man’s Best Friend—wowed in four different showgirl-style looks. And she’s far from the only star who will please, please, please satisfy our desire for glamour.
Back this year with two nods, last year’s Best New Artist winner Chappel Roan will no doubt be hot to go in another couture find.
For her inaugural walk down the Grammys carpet, “The Subway” singer was en pointe in a Edgar Degas-inspired, tulle-covered number from Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 2003 couture collection.
“For the red carpet, I knew from the outset that archival couture was essential,” Roan’s longtime stylist Genesis Webb told Vogue of the decision-making process. “Regardless of the designer, I wanted something with history; something that carried weight beyond aesthetics.”
Because choosing a look for a carpet that’s played host to that Jennifer Lopez dress and Lady Gaga’s egg-hatching moment is no small feat.
