The Minnesota Lynx have signed veteran guard Yvonne Anderson to a seven-day contract after suffering a major roster depth blow. This comes after the season ending injury to Karlie Samuelson.
The Lynx are right on the top of the points table with 22 wins and just five losses so far. They have a .815 record and are on course for another playoffs’ appearance. In such a scenario, having a depleted roster could hamper their title credentials.
Yvonne Anderson brings plenty of experience with her, having played around the globe in her basketball career. She also represented Serbia at marque international events such as the Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024 Olympics. She also led her side to a historic 2021 Euro basket title.
The Minnesota #Lynx announced this afternoon they have signed guard Yvonne Anderson to a seven-day contract.
Anderson most recently represented Serbia at FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025, and we last saw her in the #WNBA in 2022 in 11 games with the Connecticut Sun.

Anderson played across Europe, winning the 2024 EuroLeague title with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce. She also won the FIBA Europe Super Cup (2023), Turkish League Champions (2023-24), and Turkish Cup (2024).
Veteran Shined Overseas Before WNBA Break
Despite having a wealth of experience, Yvonne Anderson found it difficult to break through in the WNBA. She went undrafted during the 2012 WNBA draft, and it took a decade for her to feature in the pro basketball league. In 2022, the 35-year-old signed with the Connecticut Sun.
Anderson is coming off a standout season with Fenerbahce, averaging 15.5 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. She dominated Turkey’s KBSL, winning almost every major trophy. Anderson also recently led Serbia at the Euro basket 2025 with 14.5 points, and 3.5 assists per game.
The Minnesota Lynx have added a major talent to their depleted roster. But the contract is just a 7-day one, through which the management will decide whether to continue her presence in Minnesota or not.
This move also gives the Lynx a short window to evaluate their next roster strategy after Samuelson’s injury blow. Reports suggest that the front office is scanning for another player after waiving Alissa Pili.

I cover NBA at the Playoffs. I specialize in covering breaking news, Previews, in in-depth analysis (breaking down numbers, complex stats, nuances of the game, and converting them into reader-friendly content). Furthermore, I got into the sports media while looking for an entry into the media industry. I love International Relations, and since entry without majoring in the subject was difficult, I got into sports. Now, while majoring in International Relations on one side, I also like covering sports as part of the journey as a young Journalist.
