Six matches are scheduled on Tuesday at the WTA Ostrava Open and, as ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match, including Alycia Parks vs Elina Avanesyan. But who will advance in Czechia?
WTA Ostrava Day 3 Predictions
Rebecca Sramkova vs Vendula Valdmannova
Head-to-head: first meeting
Rebecca Sramkova’s form has been fluctuating in the early weeks of the season. The Slovak was outstanding in Brisbane qualifying, but was given a reality check in the main draw, where she surprisingly lost to Kimberly Birrell. She bounced back superbly in her next tournamnt where she defeated Varvara Gracheva in three sets. However, Sramkova has since lost her last two matches. Home advantage should lift Vendula Valdmannova, who is a wild card in this tournament. That said, the 18-year-old could struggle to contain her nerves on her WTA debut. This is where Sramkova’s experience will shine.
Prediction: Sramkova in 2
Katie Boulter vs Lucie Havlickova
Head-to-head: first meeting
If Boulter is gunning for a Top 100 return, this feels like a very important phase in her season. With no points to defend this month, the former British #1 has clear path to climb the rankings this week. She has opted for a fresh voice in her camp in order to improve her consistency, hiring the experienced Michael Joyce as coach. That decision hasn’t instantly paid off with Boulter facing two tough draws to begin the season (lost to Elina Svitolina in Auckland and Belinda Bencic at Melbourne Park). But expect her to get her campaign on track against the inexperienced Lucie Havlickova.
Prediction: Boulter in 2
Caty McNally vs Tereza Martincova
Head-to-head: first meeting
Tereza Martincova saved a match point in the first round before she defeated Dalma Galfi in a thriller. That was the Czech’s first WTA main draw win since 2023, which incidentally, was also on home soil in Prague. The 31-year-old has significant rop 100 experience, but her ranking has dipped enormously in recent years. Caty McNally has looked sharper and steadier since her comeback last season. The American’s skill set and willingness to step in should be rewarded in these conditions.
Prediction: McNally in 2
