MANNING — Mungo Homes is growing its South Carolina presence with an outdoorsy-focused community minutes from Lake Marion.
The Irmo-based builder has 10 new homes for sale in Fairway Woods at Wyboo, named for its location on the 18-hole Wyboo golf course in Manning.
Mungo announced it was expanding into the Lake Marion area and the Clarendon County seat with its new “boutique neighborhood” last month.
Homes start in the upper $200,000 range with a variation of seven one- and two-story plans ranging from 1,665 to 2,443 square feet and two-car garages.
“We believe there just aren’t affordably priced homes currently offered in our region that offer the ability to live directly on a celebrated golf course with lake accessibility, as well,” Neil Shepard, Mungo’s Charleston market president, said in a statement.
He added that given the starting prices, “Fairway Woods offers a rare combination of value, recreation and resort-style living that currently doesn’t exist in the region.”
As of June 30, the median sales price for a single-family home in Manning was $239,500, down 21.7 percent from last June when the price crossed the $300,000 threshold, according to data from the Sumter Board of Realtors.
Sales were also down 18.8 percent year over year last month with 13 transactions. As inventory shot up 31.3 percent in the area, houses also took an extra 10 days to sell.
Fairway Woods at Wyboo, situated within the master-planned Deercreek Plantation, is divided into 40 homesites along Deer Creek Road, with lots along three different cul-de-sacs.
Fellow South Carolina builder Hunter Quinn Homes, headquartered in Charleston, offers a neighboring community on the Tom Jackson-designed golf course with Deercreek at Wyboo. The Saratoga floorplan is priced from $450,900.
