No reports of a trade for the Memphis Grizzlies star guard emerged before Thursday’s deadline.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — This story will be updated.Â
ESPN reports that star point guard Ja Morant may remain with the Memphis Grizzlies past the NBA trade deadline.
According to ESPN, no “serious offers” were made for Morant before Thursday’s deadline. Sources reportedly state that while multiple teams were interested in trading for Morant, no team was willing to make a serious move.Â
The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly began fielding offers for Morant back in January.Â
Earlier this week, the Grizzlies traded former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz in exchange for three players and three draft picks. Guards John Konchar and Vince Williams Jr., and center Jock Landale, were also sent to the Jazz in the trade.Â
The Grizzlies will also reportedly acquire veteran guard Eric Gordon and a second-round pick swap from the Philadelphia 76ers.Â
Morant, who is currently out with an elbow injury, is averaging a little over 19 points, three rebounds, and eight assists this season. Morant’s season has been besieged by various injuries, including previous ankle and calf injuries.Â
Morant also served a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team after he reportedly criticized the coaching staff following a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.Â
The Grizzlies are 20-29 and 11th in the Western Conference. The team has only three of the last 10 games.Â
