Cheyenne, Wyo. – Cheyenne’s own Circuit Breakers 4H Robotics Team 21618 is headed to the national stage to represent Wyoming in United States Governor’s Cup.

Matthew Fields, Lead FTC Team Coach says, “This is Wyoming showing that Wyoming is able to compete at the nationwide level.”

Lead Coder & Team Captain Jacob Fields adds, “We’re just trying to show off what we’ve done with robotics and how we’re spreading it around Wyoming.”

Circuit Breakers 4-H Robotics Team 21618 and their robot “Blackout” will soon be headed to Washington D.C. where they will get to put their skills, and coding to the test, as this competition is bringing together the top FIRST Tech Challenge teams from around the nation.

Created roughly five years ago and made up of students across Southeastern Wyoming WNN is told that Circuit Breakers began because, “we wanted to teach these kids, these ranch kids, rural kids how to do technology, get them involved from programing to manufacturing to programing.”

Making this trip along with Lead Coach Matthew Fields will be Team Captain Jacob Fields, Assistant Code Builder Isaac Saunders and other members of the FIRST Tech Challenge or FTC team (which is comprised of 13 to 18 year old’s), but until then work still needs to be done.

“In these next couple weeks, we’ll be fine tuning any code issues that we have. Just fine tuning the robot in general as well. So any errors that happen, we will go through and fix,” says Jacob Fields.

The competition will be held on February 20 and 21st at the Constitution Hall located less than a mile from The White House, where Wyoming News Now is told regardless of the outcome, the experience comes first.

Matthew Fields states, “we think this is going to be a really great opportunity to showcase Wyoming and hopefully make a lot of connections with other states and kind of expand and work with them.”

Jacob Fields also says, “while there, we plan on doing a couple matches, can show off our robot, then go around, talk to other teams, connect, see what they’ve been doing. Just get out there and show the rest of these, us with what we’ve been doing.”

Circuit Breakers 4H Robotics Team 21618 were chosen by Governor Mark Gordon to compete, and will be competing against 50 other teams.
