TATABANYA, HUNGARY (WITN) – Representing the United States, Greenville-native Tommy Paul is the lead player for the Americans in this weekend’s Davis Cup Qualifier.
Facing Hungary in Tatabanya, they will play Saturday and Sunday in a best-of-5 match series to advance.
The U.S. leads all countries in Davis Cup titles with 32 (since 1900), but has not won recently. Their last triumph was in 2007.
Paul (now 28 years old) grew up in Greenville before moving to Florida to focus on Tennis at age 14.
He is currently ranked 22nd in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
