Idexx Expands Cancer Panel
Idexx announced the addition of mast cell tumor detection to its Cancer Dx Panel. The test will be added to the lymphoma test at no additional cost and with no change to specimen requirements or workflow. FNA cytology, starting with mast cell tumor detection, was also added to the Idexx inVue Dx analyzer.
Mars Partners with Epiq to Increase Greenies Distribution
A new partnership between Epiq Animal Health and Mars Petcare will bring Greenies Dental Treats and Greenies Pill Pockets to distributors throughout the animal health industry. The products were previously available only through Covetrus.
Shelter Animals Count Releases 2025 Data
The 2025 Annual Data Report from Shelter Animals Count and the ASPCA revealed that community shelter intakes declined by 2% (121,000 fewer dogs and cats), adoptions increased by 0.7%, dog non-live outcomes decreased by 5%, cat non-live outcomes rose by 4%, and return-to-owner outcomes fell by 3% compared to 2024.
Snout Secures $110 Million in Financing
Pet health care financing platform Snout secured $110 million in capital to expand access to care across the U.S. The funding includes $100 million in financing from Clear Havel Capital Management and a $10 million Series A round led by Footwork with participation from additional investors.
Lap of Love Partners with Veterkin Society
Lap of Love added membership to the Veterkin Society as a benefit for all of its veterinarians. The Veterkin Society was created for veterinarians who provide care primarily to their own pets outside of traditional clinic settings. “This partnership brings our doctors streamlined access to preventive care, diagnostics, and other professional resources that enhance the care for their own pets,” said Lap of Love CEO Dr. Mary Gardner.
2026 Chewy Veterinary Leaders Announced
The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges and Chewy announced the 2026 Chewy Veterinary Leaders scholarship recipients. The program provides $20,000 scholarships to 15 second-year veterinary students from underserved communities. The recipients also receive regular peer support sessions, leadership and networking opportunities at Chewy’s headquarters, and post-graduation enrollment in MentorVet LEAP’s mentorship program.
Terramed Supports Underserved Communities
Terramed Real Estate Solutions launched TerraGives, an initiative focused on building and supporting veterinary, ophthalmology, and fertility facilities in underserved communities. The initiative’s first projects include a new veterinary clinic in Ecuador, rabies elimination efforts in Tanzania, and volunteer work at a Philadelphia-area animal shelter.
KC Animal Health Corridor Accepting Emerging Company Applications
The KC Animal Health Corridor opened the application window for its Emerging Companies platform at the 2026 Animal Health Corridor Summit, held August 31 through September 1, 2026, in Kansas City. To qualify, companies must serve the companion animal health, AgTech, or food animal production segment, be seeking $500K to $20 million in funding or strategic partnerships to advance technology, and have revenue projections of $20 million within five to seven years. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on April 1, 2026.
ACVIM Publishes Statement on CIE
The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine published a new endorsed statement on the diagnosis and treatment of chronic inflammatory enteropathy (CIE) in dogs. CIE is a common cause of gastrointestinal signs in dogs. The organization said that the statement offers evidence-based guidance for veterinarians managing dogs with the complex and challenging condition.
