A 48 inch water main line break significantly damaged the Elrama Volunteer Fire Company overnight. According to the fire department, the break was first reported around 11:25 PM Friday not far from the fire department on Elrama Avenue. Officials say Pennsylvania American Water Company and their contractors are on site working to fix the issue. Officials with the water company say those impacted “may experience discolored or cloudy water, low water pressure or no water.”It’s unclear how many water customers are impacted. However, the fire department says the water company is working to get a water buffalo staged in the area. According to an emergency alert from American Water, the repairs are expected to take approximately 20 hours. Union Township officials say a warming center will be open at the Union Township building for anyone impacted. At this time, Elrama Avenue is closed from State Route 837 to Hout Lane. Emergency officials are asking people to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
