In his quest to rebuild his alma mater, Quinn Gray has added a crucial to new piece to his Florida A&M Rattlers coaching staff, FootballScoop has learned.
Gray and FAMU have reached agreement with Toriano Morgan to join the Rattlers staff in a top offensive assistant, sources tell FootballScoop.
Most recently the offensive coordinator at HBCU program Tennessee State as that school shifted from the leadership of Eddie Georgie to Reggie Barlow, Morgan has agreed to join the FAMU Rattlers as their assistant head coach, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.
It’s the next step in Morgan’s career that already includes an NCAA head coaching stint — four years atop the Edward Waters program, an NCAA Division II resident — as well as previous time as a prep head coach.
Morgan also has assistant coaching stops at Virginia Union and Virginia State; he’s a former Tennessee State standout-player.
Gray was hired in December after Florida A&M parted ways with James Colzie.
A former star Rattlers player, Gray logged professional experience as a player in both the NFL and NFL Europe.
He’s coached previously at Alcorn State, and the high school ranks, but it was his three-year work at NCAA D-II program Albany State that catapulted Gray to the job atop his alma mater. His final season at Albany State included a 12-2 mark and NCAA D-II Playoffs appearance.
Both Gray and Morgan are Fort Lauderdale, Florida, natives.
Florida A&M opens its 2026 slate in a compelling Week Zero contest. The Rattlers host Gray’s previous team, Albany State, on Aug. 29. They have a showcase game against South Carolina State a week later before a money game against defending College Football Playoff runner-up Miami.Â
