The High Court has ruled that shares held in major local companies by the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) Pension Scheme belong to the scheme and not to Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited (DemLife).
In a decision delivered on January 28, 2026, Justice Roxane George declared that DemLife acted as an investment or asset manager rather than the owner of the assets, and ordered the insurer to transfer the shares and account for dividends and profits earned over more than a decade.
