CANTON, N.C. (WLOS) — The Town of Canton has provided its daily water update, saying that water levels in the Spruce Pine Tank continue to rise, though the process remains gradual due to normal water usage.
Stage 2 Water Conservation measures and Boil Water Advisory remain in effect.

The town urges caution for all customers in the area because the system is still fragile.
The town says that if any additional major leaks occur, further water service disruptions are possible.
An attempt to start the pumps was made, but tank levels are still below the level needed to operate them.
The town says it will continue to attempt to start the pumps but encourages customers to limit water usage as much as possible so the system can recover and full water service can be restored.

Residents should be aware of brief periods of low pressure or temporary outages as the main tanks refill before pushing water back to Spruce Pine.
The town has received no report of leaks but asks that if residents see a possible leak, they also say if water is not restored by 8 a.m. or 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, to report it by calling 828-648-2376.
