Chris Gotterup has done it again.

The Sony Open champion has captured the WM Phoenix Open for his second PGA Tour victory of the season.

“I’m having such a good time playing right now,” Gotterup said, fighting to hold back emotions during his interview with CBS moments after winning.

A final round that packed plenty of drama down the stretch featured a playoff in which Gotterup edged out Hideki Matsuyama with a birdie on the first extra hole.

It was Matsuyama’s third such playoff at TPC Scottsdale. He was looking claim his third tournament championship after beating Rickie Fowler and Webb Simpson in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

But ultimately he was denied the big, $1.73-million payout that went to Gotterup.
