HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is asking all Oahu customers to conserve water immediately due to current and potential power outages island-wide related to severe weather conditions.
These outages may affect BWS facilities and their ability to pump and distribute water across the island, officials said.
Hawaii News Now declared Sunday and Monday First Alert Weather Days with potentially damaged winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated thunderstorms possible.
Hawaiian Electric crews and contractors responded to outages on Oahu, Hawaii Island and in Maui County overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, many caused by trees and weather-related debris blown into power lines.
Customers are asked to conserve water and limit use to essential needs such as cooking, drinking, and personal hygiene. Please postpone non-essential uses, including car washing, irrigation, and other outdoor water use, until further notice.
