Buongiorno again from Milan! It’s Sophia Hernandez, multiplatform reporter with NBC6 covering the 2026 Winter Olympics. Sign up here for our newsletter to get these updates straight to your inbox.

After an exciting Superbowl LX, here’s what we’re following for you on the first full Monday of events of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

First, a moment of celebration! Team USA figure skaters Ilia Malinin and Amber Glenn lead the United States to back-to-back gold in a nail-biting finish in the team event.

Meanwhile, Florida favorites Brittany Bowe and Erin Jackson are taking the ice today in the 1000m race (and are expected to make the podium).

Plus, I got a chance to speak with Erin and Brittany’s childhood coach, Renee Hildebrand in Ocala. I visited the track they used to skate and talked about their careers and the future of speed skating with the next generation of Olympians.

Make sure you stay tuned for that story and more, right here on NBC6. Ciao!
